In the Soviet Union, there was a popular sports and recreation program "Ready for Labor and Defense". In all the public schools, the subject "Basic Military Training" (NVP) was the requirement for both boys and girls.
After the collapse of the USSR, youth military-patriotic clubs were popular in many republics of the former Soviet Union.
The Russian military-patriotic public movement Yunarmiya (Youth Army) first appeared in 2016 at the initiative of the Ministry of Defense. The main task of the Yunarmiya movement is the patriotic education of schoolchildren and young adults.
Military methods of education develop various skills in children.
In the summer camps, children learn how to provide first aid to the injured, handle weapons, navigate the terrain, break the camp and make fire, and be able to overcome various obstacles.
Many children dream of linking their lives with military service and other law enforcement organizations
Today, the Youth Army has more than 1 million children and young adults from 8 to 18 years old in 85 regions of Russia.
The complex topic of child militarization constantly causes complex discussions among psychologists.
In their opinion, the skills acquired in childhood can become a trigger that will start progressive processes in the life of an adult.

"Yunarmiya" - literally "The Youth Army".
