Title: Hong Kong submerged by once-in-a-century floods
Location: Hong Kong
Period: 09/2023 - 09/2023
Category: Environment

All-time record rainfall struck Hong Kong on September 7 and 8, 2023, flooding streets, underground stations and shopping malls; causing landslides, and leaving at least two people dead and injuring more than 100 people.

The gravity of the rainstorm, which is a rarity for the city, was so strong that stock markets and schools were suspended, as the Asian financial hub was hit by the heaviest rainstorms in 140 years based on records.

It is one of the most devastating consequences due to global climate change, and it certainly is an alarming issue that needs to be addressed internationally, comprehensively with collective efforts of all people and governments.
